  Mixed results for Welsh Football

It was a weekend with equal helpings of joy and despair for welsh football teams. Firstly, congratulations to Wrexham for winning their relegation battle against Boston United. Although they could have saved Wrexham fans all the heartache if they had gone into administration before the game kicked off!

Despite a valiant effort, Swansea City missed out on a place in the league one play offs, finishing in possibly the worst position of the table, in 7th place. So near, yet so far!

Cardiff City will have to make do with finishing 13th in the Championship after loosing the last game of the season away at Ipswich 3-1. Despite a cracking start to the season, Cardiff’s promotion hopes were dashed after a poor run of results saw them plummet down the table.

  Kenny Jackett Leaves Swansea City

Following intense specualtion about his position as manager of Swansea City, Kenny Jackett has today left the club “with mutual consent”. Jackett had come under fire lately from both the fans and local media as Swansea’s push for promotion to The Championship stuttered.

Earlier in the week, Jackett had suggested he wouldn’t be affected by the criticism, but things obviously changed by Wednesday as he finally caved in and decided enough was enough. Kevin Nugent takes control of the first team as The Swans go about finding a new manager.

More details and reaction to Kenny’s departure can be found at This Is South Wales.
